Walter J. Taché, Managing Partner

Walter Taché focuses his practice on the health care industry, working with hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and physician practices, assisting with regulatory and operational issues, civil litigation, and governmental and internal investigations.

Mr. Taché's clients include over 50 different hospitals and other health care facilities. He serves as a "go-to" counsel for one of the largest healthcare companies in the country.

In the regulatory and operational practice, Mr. Taché advises clients regarding issues such as Health Information Privacy, the Health Care Quality Improvement Act, the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act (PSQIA), medical staff issues, physician discipline, credentialing, peer review, and other medical review committee functions.

In advising clients on Health Information Privacy, Mr. Taché not only assists them with preemptive measures such as implementing best practices, but also assists with investigations of data breaches, reporting to governmental agencies, referring suspected data theft to law enforcement for investigation and possible prosecution, and defending against civil claims brought by affected individuals. Before entering private practice, Mr. Bronis served as Chief of the Felony Division of the Dade County Public Defenders Office. In 1998, he was nominated to become a justice of the Florida Supreme Court. MORE

Before becoming a lawyer, Ms. Christianson worked in the healthcare industry in a variety of roles.  Above all, she has a passion for healthcare and enjoys helping the patients her clients serve.

Marissel Descalzo is a trial attorney and focuses her practice on complex criminal and civil litigation in both federal and state court. Ms. Descalzo has participated in numerous trials to verdict. Ms. Descalzo handles criminal and civil matters of vital importance to clients’ businesses or their personal lives. She represents individuals and organizations accused of fraud and/or deceptive practices, and assists and advises organizations on corporate governance and compliance matters, including in the area of anti-money laundering. Ms. Descalzo represents hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, pharmacies, and other health care providers, during government investigations and defends them in qui tam (whistle-blower) actions. Ms. Descalzo regularly counsels companies from a variety of industries on the adoption and operation of their compliance programs and, in particular, assists companies in the food and beverage industry with internal investigations and ethics issues. Paul Borr focuses his practice on complex civil litigation in state and federal court. He has particular experience representing health care facilities and health care providers in litigation matters, particularly matters related to patient privacy and Article X, Section 25 of the Florida Constitution, more commonly known as Amendment 7.

Mr. Borr graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law where he was awarded membership in The Order Of The Coif and named to the University of Miami Law Review. He is licensed as a Health Care Risk Manager in the state of Florida. MORE

Gavrila Brotz focuses her practice on business and contract disputes and health care litigation. In the business litigation portion of her practice, she handles general commercial litigation cases that involve issues including business torts, breach of contract, and unjust enrichment.

Ms. Brotz has also represented Florida corporations and national insurers in complex insurance coverage litigation under commercial insurance programs.

Ms. Brotz is part of a team of lawyers that handles issues relying on the interpretation of Article X, section 25 of the Florida Constitution, commonly known as Amendment 7, The Patients' Right to Know about Adverse Medical Incidents.

Ms. Brotz has counseled corporate clients on regulatory compliance, government investigations, privacy matters, and other corporate governance issues.  She has also published articles regarding legislation and litigation concerning information protection and data breach. MORE

Magda Rodriguez is a member of the firm’s health care practice. She represents health care entities such as hospitals, health systems, ambulatory surgical centers, and physician practices in operational and regulatory matters, civil litigation, and government investigations. 

Ms. Rodriguez’s experience in operational matters includes: physician peer reviews; revision of medical staff bylaws, regulations, and protocols; medical staff and ancillary staff issues; and National Practitioner Data Bank (NPBD) requirements. Ms. Rodriguez also provides her clients with a wide array of regulatory guidance involving data privacy requirements and policies; reporting obligations under HIPAA, HITECH, and the Florida Information Protection Act; and compliance with Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Law. MORE
